Pastoral Care
Our Pastoral Care programs express the ethos and philosophy of the school and
comprehensively embrace the whole life of the school - academic, spiritual,
physical, social and emotional. We believe pastoral care is an expression of our
Christian ethos - an ethos that endorses the gospel values of justice,
inclusion, respect and reconciliation.
Because Roseville is a small school, it is possible for each girl to be acknowledged and valued for her own special gifts. Each girl's individual needs are supported by her Class Teachers, Tutor Group Teachers, Year Advisers, the School Counsellor and Careers Adviser, all of whom monitor and support each girl in close consultation with the Head of Junior School and the Director of Pastoral Care.
At Roseville we believe pastoral care is both explicit and implicit. Implicit pastoral care can be seen in every day activities - in teaching methodology, assessment of projects, camping, sporting and cultural events and conversations in the classroom. Explicit pastoral care is evident in our planned programs during tutor times, assemblies and chapels, and in Personal Development and Christian Studies lessons.
We also believe that self-esteem and confidence are fundamental to each girl's personal, social and academic success.
The Christian vision of the value of each individual affirms the sacredness of each member of our school community and underpins all that we do at Roseville College.
At Roseville we create an environment designed for learning - an environment that allows for mistakes to be seen as portals of discovery.
